I met with the producers last week at the studio and talked about how Showtime’s set design is going to look. It doesn’t look like much now, but let me tell you what we’ve come up with so far.

We’ve decided to go for a more casual look - two matching chairs and a table in the middle. The Japanese-style bar chairs you see here might not be the ones we actually use for the show; we have a better-looking lounge chair in the studio but the other chair that matches it is in another building. Once we get both lounge chairs in the studio we’ll use those and replace the tall bar table with a smaller coffee table.
The black background was another thing we discussed. We were thinking of putting up large photos of me in various “action poses” to give the set a bit more colour. Just in case you’re wondering: no, we can’t take the black backdrop down.
I’m gonna drop by a printing/framing place near where I work and see if they’re interested in helping the show out by giving us a good deal. Maybe they can sponsor us.
Got any other ideas what to put up there?
(Above) If you look at the lower right of the photo, that’s where I’m going to do my opening monologue at the beginning of each show. We’re obviously gonna improve the look of the floor and get rid of the clutter. There’s also another place on the left of the main stage where I can do the various segments (NoyTube, Anne Hathaway, etc…)

That’s one of the camera guys checking where to set up the camera. There’s going to be two cameras while we tape the shows. We also played around with the lighting a bit.
Aside from the set design, the producers and I also talked about other pre-production stuff. We made a decision to make Showtime a 30-minute program which is, minus ad time, actually just 22 minutes.
I like it better that way since it makes things simpler “material-wise”…
Opening Monolugue –> 1st Segment –> Guest –> 2nd Segment –> Credits
Next month will be a very busy time for everyone. We’re gonna start shooting segments, teasers, and full shows within the next few weeks. We have to come up with a result because, from June 6 to June 20, there will be a FREE PREVIEW of the cable channel where the show is going to be (ROGERS CABLE 606 if you live in Canada).
This means that people who are not subscribed to the channel will be able to watch shows they wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. This is the best time to market the lineup for the next tv season, which starts in October.
I gotta start looking for guests. One of the assistant producers mentioned about a DJ who does parties for celebs here. Maybe we’ll get him.

hey johnny!!! i’m so happy for your show!!congrats!!! you deserve it!
Thanks grace. I’m gonna post more photos as soon as I drop by the studio again.
