MORE PREVIEWS: Segments (WITH ART!)

For the last week and a half, I’ve been trying to come up with segments for the show. I’ve been watching tons of clips from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Colbert Report, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and other talk shows for inspirations and ideas.

Although most of what I’ve come up with so far are slightly similiar to current segments of other North American talk shows (albeit with a Filipino twist), some I can consider to be “original” and may become staple segments:

“I have a crush on Anne Hathaway”

The name says it all, I guess. The segment will feature me in skits where I show my utter fascination, adoration, and admiration for the Oscar-nominated actress. She’s so purty. ^_^

FACT: The segment is inspired by my real-life crush on a co-worker. Everytime I see her, for some reason, I think of Anne Hathaway. ^_^

“‘NoyTube”

Inspired by a Filipino YouTuber’s idea of an all-Filipino video sharing community, this segment will feature web videos made by and for Filipinos all around the world. The sheer amount of material the show can use for this segment is practically infinite. The name is a play on words of YouTube and “Pinoy” - an informal name for Filipinos.

“Filipino Soap Opera…starring people who are NOT Filipino

Ok, you have to follow me on this one. The segment will feature non-Filipino performers acting out a cheesy soap opera scene, something Filipinos seem to just love. Here’s the twist: They’ll be saying their dialogue ENTIRELY IN TAGALOG - the native language of the Philippines.

I got the idea from this video.

TV Show: Segments (preview)

Even after a week, the news of having my very own TV show hasn’t really sunk in yet. I still can’t believe it. I could never have imagined that acting all crazy and foolish on my webcam show on BlogTV would get me anywhere.

It just seems so unreal to me.

For the past few days, as per the TV producers’ orders, I’ve been trying to come up with ideas for sketches, skits, and segments for the still untitled TV talk show. I’ve been watching all sorts of talk shows to see what kind of segments they have and take inspirations from them.

I’ve already come up with about thirty; I want to come up with at least a hundred before I meet with the producers again.

Some of the segments give the viewers the chance to participate. One of segments I have in mind will feature YouTube videos made for and by Filipinos all over the world. Another segment gives the viewers the chance to send in their photos showing their Filipino pride.

Although the talk show will feature a distinct Filipino vibe to it, I want to extend my viewership to non-Pinoys as well. This is why I’ve also come up with ideas that will feature and allow non-Filipinos to participate. One particular segment will feature non-Pinoys trying typical Filipino dishes like Chicken Adobo, Kare-Kare, and Dinuguan. And if we’re gutsy enough, maybe we can let them experience Balut as well.

Just imagine their reactions. It’s great TV material! ^_^

I still need to come up with quite a few more ideas. This is where YOU come in. If you have any suggestions please feel free to share them here. Everything will be taken into consideration.

Thanks a bunch everyone. I’ll keep you posted.

By the way: Got an idea for the show’s name?

“JohnnyTheMind” - my live webcam show on BlogTV.com - has been picked up by a Filipino cable telvision network here in Canada.

Pre-production for a TV version of my online show has already begun and I’m currently writing material for the first few episodes - which will air later this year. I’m so excited.

A link to my BlogTV channel can be found on the RIGHT SIDE of the blog, under “Johnny’s links”. I’m usually “live” everyday at 9PM ET (10am Phil. time)

Many thanks to all those who supported me!
