Bos, para lang sa tabi!

Another "Proud To Be Pinoy" Entry…

img261/6859/mnlmanila20jeepney20jon4xe.jpg

Don’t you just love jeepneys? I know I do.

I remember my high school days at Letran College (Intramuros), taking the Taft/PGH line to and from school.

Every day was an experience. Sometimes I rode at the front seat, sometimes the very back or, when I was feeling adventurous, I would do the ever-popular SABIT SA LIKOD! ^_^

What was it like for you? Share your jeepney stories!

I don’t like to ride on a PUJ anymore. I had a very scary experience. Was held-up, snatched my wallet and my bracelet that was given to me by my best friend was taken too. Worst, my seatmate was stubbed to death with his own blood over his body when he refused to give his cellphone and fought back with the held-upers. Don”t ride on PUJ as much as possible espceically if you are in Metro Manila. If in the Province that will be fun.

i enjoy riding PUJs… though there were a couple of times that my wallet was been stolen many times in the jeepney (the pocket of my high school skirt was wide and not too deep, giving easier access to my wallet)… but then, riding a jeepney is way too fun.. watching the same scenery, feeling the cool wind slapping my face, and watching every passenger’s face and trying to decipher their line of thinking and emotions… ahhhh… the joys of riding a PUJ… :)

  8. 8    Nhorleen January 26, 2007 at 1:04 am

there’s actually a song that goes like, “eksena sa jeepney inyong makikita may action, comedy at drama..” …a pretty good summary of what goes on inside everytime you ride one

    this site is so cool…
i miss jeepneys in phils., nothing like that :) one of the filipinos pride :)
    viva Filipinos !!!!

  12. 12    Roselle January 26, 2007 at 3:35 am

a short trip would be okay..and I guess there’s the thrill factor..but considering the smog and the possible danger dampens whatever high one can get from the experience..It is unique though…”only in the Philippines” as we say…

You have a nifty blog here..keep writing…a blogger blog would give you bigger writing exposure…interaction with other nationalities promoting Filipino vibes is rewarding…

    mabuhay!

i luv riding jeepney’s. In hight skool, my friends and i would hop and from Jeepney to another just for the fun of it…. or just riding along…. we could see the drivers angry face that we still in the jeepney….plus we pay with the student fare….

  19. 19    Vanessa January 26, 2007 at 6:49 am

    I missed riding a jeepney…I don’t have any bad experiences whatsoever…Even though it’s so hot in Manila..I didn’t care…hehe

Me and my friends usually go to ATC after lunch that’s why I ride the jeepney…

Gosh only in Manila that people say “Boss, para”…Or “Festi,Festi”haha! Good times..=)

    hi ang gwapo mo….

  21. 21    JD January 26, 2007 at 8:08 am

my most memorable experience was when I was sitting behind the jeepney driver when he stopped to refuel at caltex coastal road. The gas boy hurriedly put the pump’s nozzle in the gas tank (which was conveniently located beside the driver’s seat) while he went back to make pa-cute to the cashier lady. After a few seconds, the gas hose broke from the nozzle spraying all of us passengers with free diesel. It was a good thing the driver had just finished smoking otherwise we would’ve been toast (literally)

  22. 22    Adora January 26, 2007 at 8:10 am

i love sitting right at the back of the driver kasi minsan ang hirap makuha yung sukli ko if i am seated far behind i have experienced yung ibang pinoy ang susuplado and not nice enough to help me remind the driver…manong sukli ko po!..kaya in the end ako naman yung naging tiga-abot ng change.

  23. 23    TET January 26, 2007 at 8:24 am

I remember, when I was 16, I rode the jeepney in the front seat, next to the driver….big mistake!!!!! Everytime the driver changed gears, his hand would touch my knee slightly. NGEEEE!!! PARA NA PO!!!! :-} Who remembers the love bus?

  24. 24    lara January 26, 2007 at 8:43 am

    great page, johnny!

fun to ride those jeepneys…i remember when i miss my schoolbus and i would have to take the jeepney to school; it was really awkward for me when paying esp. when i was sitting way at the back…i actually have to say pakiabot pls…sus nakakahiya talaga!..still an excellent ride!

  25. 25    Nelle January 26, 2007 at 8:57 am

now that FX is all over the place, i prefer FX rather than PUJ’s…sabi nga ng Sissy ko pag nag jeep ka…”papasok ka pa lang, parang pauwi ka na.” lolz… but ironically, my 5 year old girl prefer to take a jeepney rather than aircon-PUV!

  27. 27    NERIS January 26, 2007 at 9:15 am

i’ve never tried sabit sa likod ng jeep but i always make sure that i get to sit on my two favorite spots… beside the driver (still cool even if most of them smells pawis and has B.O., hehehe. drivers always have something interesting to say, and sometimes they hit on you coz they want to prove the saying “driver-sweet lover!”) and at the very end of the jeep where you take all the alikabok when you start taking the rough road… and i missed it so much. i missed saying “para na po sa tabi! “Paki-abot naman po ng bayad ko” “Salamat bossing!” i have lots of good memories riding the jeepney… and every time i remember it… i feel so PINOY!!!

  28. 28    kimsteph January 26, 2007 at 9:16 am

waah.. sentimiyentong pinoy. :) oo nga, riding jeepneys do the thrill. hindi man ako naka-experience ng hold-up pero meron ung minsan tense na tense na kasi medyo nakakahalata na prang merong masamang mngyayari kya papara na lang sa lugar na malayo pa sa destinasyon. ha! sayang ang pamasahe. hehe! meron ding manyak pag ngkataon. malas na lng. hai. pro when u get to another country, hahanap hanapin mo din ang pinoy jeep. nkakamiss tlg! sabay mo na ang pmpasaherong fx :)

  32. 32    jeni January 26, 2007 at 10:12 am

i love jeepney rides. there’s always a story or tsismis to overhear, there’s always someone with an interesting get-up, there’s always a bit of laughter or a bit of drama — the sense of belonging among strangers. just don’t fall asleep if you’re sitting on the furthest seat from the driver, because once, i saw this kalesa horse drool over the poor, unsuspecting manong during a binondo midday traffic. ngiii and kawawa naman!

  33. 33    savvy January 26, 2007 at 10:17 am

Jeepney ride for me is a matter of a day to day routine, getting to work from home. Day in-day out. I must admit though, that it is fun and rather exciting!!!(you never know what will happen next…a hold-up there and a stabbing here…arguments evrywhere etc.. meeting people(weird and sensible ones, like a box of chocolates, you can’t say which ones you get
to pick!!!)But honestly, I am astonished by the multi-tasking abilities of the jeepney driver. While fidgeting with his cell phones, probably texting his loved ones (legal or illicit)a very complicated computation is going on up his head…figuring out the fare from Libertad to PGH for three passengers who just handed a fifty peso bill and eventually the amount of change at the same time announcing to the rear passenger beside the woman with a hefty looking front that he should get down immediately unless he adds more to his fare and oh did I mention that he is doing all these while driving and smoking the cigarette that he just bought off from the tingi boy along the traffic light? Until I would be able to afford my own car albeit an old banger, I will be on those funjeeps day in-day out.

  35. 35    Ivy January 26, 2007 at 11:42 am

Nice Blog! I really miss riding in a jeep especially at the far end of the driver so whenever u don’t have pamasahe u can easily jump out (pero make sure the speed is not that fast ah and its kinna near to ur destination!) and bilisan ang takbo..hahaha but seriously you will all gonna miss everything when you moved to a different country. There’s always a saying “there’s no place like home” and philippines is one of the great country that we couldn’t just forget, the people and the simple life we had. I’m always be a proud PINOY!!!

  36. 36    Elizabeth January 26, 2007 at 12:52 pm

I had the same scary experienced.Back in early ’80s. I went home late from my agency(in going to Japan)..so I stood infront of the gasoline station to stop the jeepney and that was to close to harrison plaza street, so igot in then for how many minutes one tall and mestizo guy stop the jeepney and he got in .. I’m wondering why he choosed to sit besides infact there are lots of vacant sits. So I ignored what will be happenned but I had alresdy an instinct that somehow there will happened.. So when the jeepney pass thru the Chinese temple(tha’s the dark area that time… I don’t know) Thu guy suddenly grab my shoulder bag and he start stubbing me in my tummy area and I keept fighting with him too. I cannot give my shoulder bag to him because my papers for abroad was inside.(I had 300 pesos only in my shoulder bag .) There was a commotion alrady inside the jeepney. When I got a chance I kicked him so hard and he run out towards in Roxas Blv. area.. Until now that’s experienced was still in my mind, because I had a scars in arm and in my thigh.. I thank God that ’s nothing seriously happened.

  37. 37    Chacha January 26, 2007 at 1:41 pm

wow.. i never thought of missing jeepneys until i have read your blog..

jeepneys with religious themes, or animal themes, even the names of every member of the family of the owner are painted on it, air-conditioned or not, has the capacity of 16 to 32 people (excluding the driver and those who sit by the jeepney entrance and those “na sumasabit” beside the driver or the passeger seat and of course, the famous “sabit sa likod”)

I take jeepney rides to and from school eversince high school.. St. Mary’s College.. til college… MAPUA..

though there are exasperating experiences, PUJs are so cool and different.. unlike here.. the only public transport from one point to another is a bus. no trikes.. no jeeps.. (good in most ways though)

i remember when i was in college, whenever i’m on my way home.. tired from all the hassles of the day.. most of the time i sleep on someone’s shoulder for the whole trip..! ahahahahha! very awkward indeed!!! someone even asked my phone number.. (of course i refused and only said thank you)

i also miss the bonus services the jeepneys have when i pay.. the cool breeze that is very comforting during a hot day with free dust particles.

  38. 38    Michelle January 26, 2007 at 1:46 pm

jeepneys? da best ang patok papuntang cubao… one time punuan na talaga pati mga sabit dami na rin… wat i did? naupo dun sa tabi ng mga nakasabit… para sa labas ang tingin heheh… then nung one time magkakasama kaming mga magbabarkada and sa sobrang bored kami kasi wlang radio ung nasakyan namin ng sound trip kami, kami ung nagsising-along dun then at the same time ung mga ndi namin kakilala nakikanta na rin…. shyet miss ko na pinas… pati na rin po ung tricycle… sabit sabit lang syemps pagndi pa rin kasya kandungan na lang din sabay sabay para walang iwanan…. niceee beri nice!!! thx nga pla :)

hi ,,,, its so fun to read this blog,,,, about experience riding in jeepneys,,, wow, i have lots,,,, why coz in my 25 years of existence,, jeepney was my way of transportation,, going to and from the school…. what i couldnt forget about jeepney was one time i was riding ina jeepney,, we were about 20 passengers,,,,, everybody was quiet,,, trying to view the outside scene, when suddenly a woman screamed and told the driver to go fast because she was about to deliver her baby,,,, the driver and we, the passengers did not know what to do,, until she said its about to come out,,,,so the driver stopped the jeep and told the passengers to get off the jeep and give the woman space ,,,,, ,,, all were anxious at the same curious of what will happen next… after 15 minutes ,,, the woman delivered her baby boy,,, everyone clapped and some shouted for joy….. handful of passengers even gave money to the woman. It was indeed a very memorable scene which i couldnt forget about riding a jeepney…. now im not riding jeepney anymore… but when i get back to the phils. for sure,,,, sasakay na naman ako sa jeep ng buhay……. mainit… mausok,,,, pero nakakamiss at nakakapagbigay ng saya,,,,,, hbueserjr@yahoo.com

I made it a point to ride one of them and did so by taking the same route to UST from Paranaque. Nothing’s changed - well maybe the fares - and it all seemed like yesterday… nothing compares to familiarity!

Jeepneys are very interesting. First they are one of the main sources of income for many Filipinos. Second, they are our trademark; lots of history there. And third, well they are just plain fun - the colours, ornaments, and the slogans like “Katas ng Saudi”, “Basta sexy libre”, “Konting kadyot lang”, etc…

The different personalities that ride in these boxes with wheel are just as funny (this includes me of course). The Students – todo japorms; uniforms have been pimped-out so it appears more baggy… some are too baggy that when the wind catches it, it acts like a parachute, which in turn slows down the vehicle :) The Sigas – with the maskolado shirts (usually tucked-in), shades that don’t match the contour of their face, arms are pumped when they hold on the handrails. When these guys pay they say in a deep voice “PARE BAYAD”, which is very different from the Federation. The badings are the coolest bunch. They got poise, they got style, and grace… when they pay they handout the money with the hand slightly curved on the wrist and say with the gentlest tone… “Mama here’s the payment” :)
I love the Jeepney, but it’s a technology that doesn’t move with the time. Imagine a Jeep na Air conditioned, doesn’t blow much smoke, may facility for e-payment so you just scan your card, may automated voice saying “Next stop, Crossing”… how good would that be :)

  55. 55    elle sistahs January 26, 2007 at 9:58 pm

me and my friends had this experience when we went to divisoria last mid-december (take note, december ha!! could you imagine the traffic going there?). oh well, we went there all the way from libis quezon city to divisoria via a jeepney only!!! muhn!! it took us 2 and a half hour long to reach the place!!! but it was worth the experience coz its my first time to ride a jeepney here in manila. witht the streetchildren just jumping inside the jeep to sing a carol with matching “kuhit” just to make you give them some penny. another thing is we went there not knowing where to aboard… so everytime our seatmate in the jeepney changes, we had to ask them if divi is near already or how many minutes remaining to reach the place…plus the fact that we had a free perfume from the smoke emitted by the other jeepneys… phew! one heck of an adventure it is!!!

  56. 56    lorelie January 26, 2007 at 10:15 pm

hi guys…hehehe…riding jeepneys were fun. used to ride it when i was in university at cebu city and holidays in manila. when i feel like unwinding, guess what i did? well, i just rode a jeepney out and around town. met a lot of friends through it too. and for safety purposes, avoid wearing jewelries…fake ones will do anyway..hahaa. i miss philippines. and am proud to be filipino as well.

  57. 57    Dennis January 26, 2007 at 10:20 pm

I just love public transport in the Philippines. No kidding mate! Not only that it takes you to your destination but also it gives you an intense sensation brought by drama and horror of being terrified with those snatchers and hold-uppers hangin’ around. Similarly, you will get free carcinogens enough to activate your built-in repair mechanisms to hold your cell’s physiologic responses at their highest performance level. Furthermore, if you forgot to put skin moisturizer and spray your favourite commercial pheromones, you will get a natural moisture barrier from a mixture of by-products of incomplete combustion of petroleum products and dusts. Certainly, you will arrive at your destination with more illuminated complexion and with a distinct smell. And, if you are lucky enough to be seated next to a person whose olfactory nerves failed to recognize the need of performing the ritual of water and soap treatment, you’ll get your masseter muscles to work. Cheers!

i miss the jeepneys too!! i remember one time, sumabit kami sa jeep. that was after the lovapalooza event. ala na xeng jeep nun, so we had no choice kaya sumabit nlng kami sa jeep. we sat on the steps and as the jeep went along. everybody in the road were pointing and laughing at us.. I miss the philippines..

Sure, jeepney’s one helluva ride! Not only the fare is cheap but it’s also a practical means of transpo in U-belt. (I used to go UST, and I commute from Munoz to Espana).

Thanks for your blog entry,it made me reminisce that one time of jeepney ride experience. It was really funny but also weird.

    Here it is:
Remember the “barkers”? They tell you where the jeepney’s route is and they even tell you the seat capacity (but most of the time they let you go inside even its already full). And that’s how the incident happened. I’m already inside the jeepney only to realize there was no seat available anymore. But there was a kind gentleman offered a “space” for me saying, “Miss, IPASOK MO, ILALABAS ko”.I froze. I didn’t know what to react/say.Up to this date, I still didn’t know the meaning until I asked one my friends and they told me what the guy meant and were laughing their butts about it. What do you think the guy meant? Weird huh? Funny, yea.

I would never forget riding a jeepney.I’d still want to ride it when ever I get back home. I guess those “hold-up” incidents were just at random, and, I guess I’m just lucky not to experience it.

I don’t know how to ride those. Even when I still lived at Philippines. Haha! I prefer buses =P

  62. 62    john January 26, 2007 at 11:15 pm

We went to the Philippines just last week. Me, my wife and our two kids took the jeep on our very first day in Manila. There was nothing unusual about the jeep for me. It’s the same old feeling. I got worried when my kids started to ask me why it stinks in the Philippines. It wasn’t really the country but the smoke that comes out of the jeep. It could have been better if the Philippines will minimize using diesel engines.

  63. 63    James January 26, 2007 at 11:37 pm

You have to admit, amidst all the pollution and litter infesting cities, the aesthetics that was poured into the designs of these jeepneys somehow enlivens the surroundings. Even with all the unsightliness, they still find sense to show culture through multi-colored cheap paint over dull metallic greys.

  64. 64    'amyfay January 27, 2007 at 12:55 am

huh…still i cant forget my trauma on riding our made from philippines “Jeep”..evrytime i get to my destination safely, i say a little prayer of thanksgiving.most particularly, after an overtime duty at night, all the passengers, if not drunk, some looked like as if they will eat you anytime.Im thankful to overvome that fear now,i wouldnt want to recall some of that fearful nights..but im looking forward again to ride on it when i come back to manila.

  69. 69    Ruzzel January 27, 2007 at 4:17 am

Hi matey,..yeah, I kinda miss Phils too but I don’t think I’ll ever ride a jeepney…Had no bad experience but I just don’t think it’s safe anymore (”these days”) besides it’s too crowded and not to mention the odour!…crikey!.LOL!…

well I used to ride a jeepney and bus before when I was there and I even tried to “sabit” and believe me it was a frightening experience 4 me just to get to school.

I remember when I was in my 2nd year high school I used to wake up early morning and wait 4 the buses to come but still couldn’t squeeze in so sometimes I just go home and tell mum that I couldn’t get in the bus.

I have so much 2 say but I better stop here or I might tell u more story!….LOL!…

    Interesting topic though.

    Regards to all my Kababayan!.

    Cheers!..

    Hi Johnny,
it’s my first I visit your site, seems interesting for me.

I really missed riding jeepneys, even it made me irritate sometimes.

I still wished to ride it again soon.

    Cool site Johnny!

  71. 71    benedict January 27, 2007 at 4:47 am

hi nice blog… i love to ride jeepsssss cause it reminds us that we are truly pinoy, no matter how bad our experience in riding jeepneys

  72. 72    Roxanne January 27, 2007 at 6:19 am

I like riding the jeepneys, it’s fun especially when you’re in a group of about ten or so, it becomes like a school bus! Sure, I got my phone stolen once there, but it’s way too dull not to ride a jeep just because of a bad experience, it’s way too much fun! In addition to being proudly pinoy!
I miss PUJs… everything pinoy really, go Pinas!

  73. 73    Roy January 27, 2007 at 6:33 am

looks like most people take snatching and mugging against jeepneys.

the jeepneys are safe. its just that some people love to flash and flaunt.

    jeepneys are still the best!!!

  74. 74    odyssey January 27, 2007 at 7:03 am

hi buddy…i miss riding on our jeepneys back home..whenever one of my canadian friends here in korea would insist that it’s a pick up truck…we always end up arguing about it…well ofcourse i know better than he does…here buses are nice though drivers are crazy…i miss PUJ’s…it’s really unique!i like to hand others’ fare to the driver…for me it’s a simple act of being kind to others even to stangers…well let’s just say pinoys are simply inherently kind and considerate with others…itaas ang bandila ng pilipinas…hey this is interesting!!!

  75. 75    Mhay January 27, 2007 at 7:08 am

I love riding towards the very end so when you get off it’s easier and at the same time you don’t feel too close to everyone. I hated seeing those girls that wears those really short skirts and then when they sit, they keep on pulling their skirts up!

Jeepney ride’s like an adventure though… because you’ll never know who you going to bump into…It’s indeed a Pinoy pride… I love it when the owner goes all out with their decorations and the sound system they put in there. hen we’re in high school(Arellano, high in Lope de Vega) we’ll never ride what we called the “bulok ones” it has to be the coolest looking ones! we didn’t even mind how long it takes to wait for one!

  76. 76    aYa January 27, 2007 at 7:10 am

i miss jeepneys! i always tell my hub that public transport is better in phils than here in aus. Un nga lang matraffic! atleast jan, laging may jeepney and bus and d train (MRT, i think that’s d one) arrives every 3mins. of course, d2 no jeeps. Buses are 30mins-1hr. Trains here… hate it! I prefer jeepneys than taxis coz 2 many dramas with taxi drivers! Plus, don’t like bein in a taxi by myself. I rememba, I used to get on about 6 jeepneys just to get to makati. I was preggy & was so paranoid kse and every time i see someone scary lookin 4 me, i get off d jeep & catch anuva one. LOL.

I got anuva story… One time I was sitting infront of d jeep. E di ba they would always have 2 persons sa harap, there’s this kid, cguro mga 12-14y/o, sitting beside me. I had my bag on my lap & he had an envelope on his lap. I just felt na parang it’s a bit warm on my thigh & when i lifted my bag he was holdin my thigh. Chancing! He was so embarassed that i caught him red handed he got off d jeepney. Di ko na nagawang nagalit coz d jeep took off straight away & i just couldn’t believe a kid that age would do something like that. Tsk-tsk-tsk.

My hub & i always get on jeepneys there & he always wanna be d one to say BAYAD DALAWA & PARA PO SA TABI. He’s such a show off, eh un lang naman ung tagalog words na alam nya! LOL.

  81. 81    rency January 27, 2007 at 11:14 am

grabeeeeee, 3x kong na experienced na nabanga ang jeep na sinasakyan ko noh, gosh! talaga, nangyari yun when i was in college, phil women’s po ako so sa taft din, kaya ng magka anak ako hindi kami masyadong sumasakay ng jeep, taxi na lang kahit mahal at malapit lang ang pupuntahan, i have a lot of experienced in jeepneys, eventhough sometimes scary i still miss the jeeps, now that im in america, i miss the arangkada yung ingay nya, at sobrang puno pero may mga sabit pa, lalo na pag baha ang hirap sumakay sa jeep, at 24/7 sila, dito di uso kaya pag gutom ka wala ng wendys sa taft ave na pupuntahan, oh i miss the bastos drivers, kahit ganun sila nakakamiss din pag wala ka na satin.

  84. 84    T w i l a January 27, 2007 at 1:22 pm

I love jeepneys!!! I’ve been riding them for like my whole life. Gusto ko ngang sumabit sa likod but then I’m a girl and I’m wearing a skirt most of the time(coz I’m from school). My dad’s friend, she’s a lesbian, sumasabit sya sa likod coz she looks like a guy…)=

  85. 85    ART January 27, 2007 at 1:38 pm

when i was in college… i used to wear jeans & chuck taylors & sported a long hair… and, yes! sumasabit ako sa jeepneys! what, you asks, is so uncommon about that? well… i am a girl!!! heheheh… yeah, guys… i am… and i’m a very impatient one.. so, in the mornings, when i feel like i’m gonna be late for school & it’s very hard to get a ride, sabit na lang ako… i never get ashamed of it! sabi ko, “the guys can do it, why shouldn´t us, girls?”… but one day, a classmate asked me, “ART, sumasabit ka ba sa jeep?”… i felt all the blood went up to my face… i blushed & denied! heheheh… saka ko lang naramdaman… dyahe palang sumabit ang girls!! but, it was cool cause when my (all-guy) tropa learned about it, sumasabit na kaming lahat! heheheh… and it was really fun!

    note:
i’m a very petite lady & though i’m boyish in so many ways, i look very much “girly” in general… so.. you imagine! hahahah

  91. 91    Sandra January 27, 2007 at 6:38 pm

Jeepney rides? Aah, I can’t believe that I actually miss them. I’ve been riding the jeepneys to and from school since i was a kid, and I like riding at the back, right at the edge. Back then, traffic does not exist in our city. Nowadays, with traffic, coupled with the warm, humid weather, i’d think twice before riding a jeepney. it used to be fun though.

  94. 94    MC January 27, 2007 at 9:12 pm

“Proud to be pinoy” ha? pero may kulang.

  95. 95    MC January 27, 2007 at 9:50 pm

  96. 96    Ruzanne January 27, 2007 at 10:56 pm

nk-miss talaga ang sumakay ng jeep…Everytime I went back to Phil for my annual leave, i make a point to ride pa rin. Although sometimes I feel uneasy because of those news we always hear (snatcher, holdup, reckless drivers) .. I miss those time na “patokista” days in college…cute college guys, latest gossip, the latest trends..and funny stories you got to overhear from fellow passengers. I love to watch people expressions too..trying to read their thoughts..isa pa, extension ng tulog ko…just imagine I have to leave from my house at least 5:30 am to reach my 7 am class sa mendiola. 3 choices to do while riding PUJ, tsismis, review, or tulog (in any order)…”mama, sa tabi lang po!”

  114. 114    PAUL January 28, 2007 at 9:30 am

GREAT BLOG! as a matter of fact, isa ito sa mga nami-miss ko sa pilipinas… being a country where public transportation is lacking, i sure do wish they have a jeep here… i love the part where i can see all of the people’s reaction… although there are awkward moments… especially since im prone to those “manyakis” (maniacs)… but other than that, it really is good to ride a jeep… wonderful experience… I WANNA GO HOME! WAHHHH!

    Thanks for your blog!

Oh my Jeepney days. Those are one of the memories that I will never forget. I used to take the “jeep” from my house to school everyday. After school, my friends and other of my classmates would flag an empty jeep and ride along. That was the best thing ever. Also choosing the best jeep is quite the adventure, we won’t ride on those old jeeps with bad music on (and they’re normally the AM radio) but instead, we would flag the ones that have those flashy signs and cool FM (normally Monster radio 93.1) music playing. Ohhh those are the days.

I love riding in jeepneys, sometimes when I got bored at home I just went out and rode the jeep around the city. I remember when I was in college, after my class I rode a jeep going home and the jeep had such nice music and I loved the songs so much that I kept day-dreaming until I arrived home but a few minutes after I got out, I realized that I had forgotten to pay, this happened to me twice and honestly I did not mean to cheat the driver, I just really forgot. Now I no longer live in the Philippines, I really miss riding those jeepneys, but believe me, when I go back home for a visit, I will make up for lost time, and ride them as often as I can. They are really unique to the Philippines.

i used to love riding jeepneys way back then… i started riding them when i was 13 and from then on it’s become a major part of my day especially it was the only way i could get around because i had no car back then going to school and coming home and everything else in between… i love to watch other people in the jeepney rides i used to take there were the bestfriends who talk to each other like nobody was around (i enjoyed listening to them) there were the “texters” back then it was safe to bring out celfones in jeepneys without fear of them being stolen, there were the sleepers na kapag bumababa na ang ulo nila biglang naalipungatan o kaya sandal sa katabi kahit hindi kakilala, then those ones i hate the most yung nagbayad ng isa pero pandalawa ng upo! when people sttarted doing that in jeepneys i switched to the FX revo highlander taxis and that’s how i got around during my later years in the philippines bkit ako lumipat sa mga FX? mas maraming chicks na sumasakay sa FX kesa jeepney hehehe

I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don’t know the answer…

    kidding.

i’m fortunate enough to live in davao city. in case you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know that society’s unwanted don’t exactly make it to jail here. they take the fast route to the morgue, so to speak. riding the jeepney in davao city isn’t as scary as what’s been described in the previous comments.

except for the occasional misfortune of being seated next to a foul-smelling carcass, i like taking the jeepney. it’s cost effective, and you don’t get harassed by the lack of parking space. =)

Jeepneys i think is the main fabric of our transportation in the Philippines.. lot of stories..I remember the days when i just have to sit using the end of my buttocks (tailbone!) and hold on really tight as the driver have to suddenly stop in the middle of the road and guess what?..to have another passenger!(grabe!)..it was hilarious when u see people fall asleep and fighthing to be awake and to notice that u missed your chance to get off even if you pulled the string to stop several times and yelled..boss tabi lang..para!

WOW! Jeepneys man how I miss riding them. “sabit sa likod” Hehe, Both Risky and Fun. I usually ride right at the back of the driver when I have money but when I don’t I usually ride at the back then if it’s time to get off I just jump right off the jeepney which is also called “123″. It’s funny coz there can be so many slangs related to the jeepney like the “KKB” or kanya kanyang bayad. One bad experience, well not me but my brother. When his Dickies cap got nabbed by some kid when the jeepney stopped because of traffic. Kid just grabbed it right off the open window.

    Ye! Proud to be Pinoy

  145. 145    C III January 29, 2007 at 3:24 am

    I REMEMBER ONE JEEP RIDE..

I WAS ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL FOR BASKETBALL PRACTICE. THERE WAS THIS DUDE ON THE BARS (NAKA-BITIN) AND HE WAS SLEEPY.. IN THE MIDDLE OF ORTIGAS, HE LOST HOLD OF THE BAR AND FELL..

    BUT!!!

HE HELD ON TO THE REHAS, FOR A PAINFUL 15 METERS MORE (I DONT KNOW WHY!!!)

SO, INSTEAD OF HEADING STRAIGHT TO ROSARIO, IT HAD TO STOP AT ROBINSONS GALLERIA AND AND TOOK THE IDIOT TO THE NEAREST HOSPITAL (..SO NICE OF THE DRIVER TO DO SO..)

    A JEEPNEY RIDE, BOW..

PS: dont ride the “bitin” if you’re sleepy.. you idots would just give yourself and the driver a hard time..

What’s with all the gory crimes-committed-in-jeepney stories? Crimes like that happen every day — sad, but true. But that only tells us to be more careful and aware of our surroundings. ^^ The jeep’s a lovely Pinoy innovation… Let’s focus on the bright side! At least you won’t need to blow dry your hair when you ride a jeep~~hehehe. ^^

  147. 147    RITA January 29, 2007 at 5:39 am

There is nothing wrong riding in the jeepney…It was fun, the only thing i hate when riding PUJ if you sit next to “LASENG” yukkiii…other than bastos, coz he tried to used his elbow leaning on the side of my boobie, or you will find him sleeping in ur shoulders…Ok lang sana kung Pogi hehehhee….

hahaha! love your site and love reading the comments of your readers… nakakatuwa kasi naalala ko ung one of my unforgetable experience riding a jeepney way back when i was in college. syempre, i sat down beside the driver, my favorite spot. sumakay ung holdupper sa central and just before we reach quiapo, he pointed his kitchen knife, which is wrapped inside a towel, on my side. then said, “hold-up ito, akina ang alahas mo at and bag mo.” hay naku, wala ako sa mood mahold-up no! i could feel the driver getting worried and pati ung passengers sa likod ko walang magawa kasi nga nakatutok sa akin ung kutsilyo… hehehe… siguro sira lang talaga ang ulo ko kaya sabi ko sa holdupper… “ganun? sige, saksakan na lang tayo!” it was so funny because he seemed taken aback by my reaction and instead of pursuing what he intended to do, he just looked at me up and down and jumped out of the jeepney just before we reached raon st. in quiapo! laking manila ako and riding a jeepney is part of my everyday life. despite all of my bad and funny experience, i would love to have a chance to ride it once again. at least, hindi nakakasuka ang amoy ng anghit ng mga pinoy, kagaya ng ibang tao na nakakasalamuha mo sa bus dito sa canada di ba? hehehe… keep up the good work jhonny!

  153. 153    Carmela January 29, 2007 at 9:00 am

There was a time when it was a trend in Manila about using those attache case which was made of plastic and it was so hard in quality. When I took the jeep one day with my friends, I was busy chatting with them and I did not notice that my bag fell on the street. It was the other passenger when she informed that my bag fell. The jeep pulled over to let me take my bag but it was so hard to pick it up because vehicles were moving fast. It was a very funny experience that after 20 years, we still used to laugh at it whenever me and my friends will remind the incident.

There’s nothing like ridin’ a jeepney! If you haven’t tried one, you’ve never been experienced the Philippines. I remember when I was studying in FEU, i used to ride “sabit” especially during rush hours. Pasig-Quipo lines jeepneys are awesome!!! Remember those rockin’ sounds that pumps out your chest during the trip, where you have to wait for your favorite jeepney??? Sometimes I get late with my class just to ride my favorite jeepney!!! What an experience…hahaha! Wish I could turn back the time….

Wheeww… Jeep??? Naku sinabi mo pa! ONLI EN DA P.I.!!!

PUJ are cool, especially jeepneys, as you may know … only in the philippines (or not) you can see people are hanging at the back or as what you said “sabit”.. totally adventorous.. whoaa!!! Hehehe, but cerain times you may ended up with unfortunate event as in jeepneys anything can happen right!! Like stealing people’s wallet, purse/jewelries/ and the even popular cell phones. Well, nandyan na rin yung mga maniac, gossiping, a typical filipino things hehehe!! Did you try going out in a country places ( i mean provinces). You’ll even see people sitting on top (roof) on jeepney… now, how cool is that eh???? Yup, miss riding a jeepney…. But don’t even forget the “calesa” or tricycle, I love those too!!!

i got banned from using the car coz i got caught DUI. So i had to learn how to ride the jeepney. it’s annoying coz i would always hit my head or trip on the steps..(i went to st scho in college so we’d wear really high heels) but it would be fun at the same time coz i got to talk to different people and all..made tons of friends.. :)

  174. 174    KILmikeLAX January 29, 2007 at 11:05 pm

  175. 175    Chie January 30, 2007 at 1:06 am

you’re cool!! im glad that you are still pinoy even if you live and work in canada. for me jeepney is one of our trademarks as Filipinos. we should be proud of it…i love jeepneys kahit na mataas na pamasahe and it is an experience everyday. remember michael v. song “eksena sa jeepney”?
    sounds like this:
eksena sa jeepney inyong makikita may action, comedy at drama…
eksena sa jeepney inyong makikita tatak pinoy talaga…

something like that…jeepney i can say is TATAK PILIPINO so be proud!!!

  179. 179    Liza January 30, 2007 at 1:50 am

Oh yes jeepney days can never be forgotten! As in those were the gold old days:) In my college days i used to take jeep from Balibago to Tagaytay because i was studying at AUP. One time i happened to hopped in in a full packed jeepney but i had no choice but to get in ’cause i dont know how to “sabit” it’s scary especially for a lady, so i uncomfortably inserted myself between a man and a woman, little did i know the man was drunk huhu…and he was asleep huhu…he kept on leaning to my shoulder or my arm (it’s automatic for us to put our hands to the handle once we get inside, right?)that’s what i was doing then this drunk old man kept on leaning his forhead to my arm and he was stinks of liquor and i felt like im going to get drunk myself! Well, what happened next was i dropped my arm from the handle the old-drank man fell to the floor on top of all those stuffs from the wet market and he never able to get himself up! Despite of the uncomfortability of everyone, right that moment all of them roared to laughter and they called me naughty for doing it LOL! Until i got off at AUP the poor old man was still with the vegetables and telapia’s cares. Another experience. I went to Palawan with friends, in there, ladies used to ride on the top load and i didn’t know how to do it because there was nothing like that in Manila and it really scares me to death! However, out of the shortage of jeepneys, like you have to wait another four hours to get a new ride, so i decided to ride on top with my friends, it was horrible i felt all my nerves constricted from fear plus i had to inhale all the dust particles because i can’t cover my nose with hanky because my two hands were fully occupied, and i’ve been praying a lot that i will not fall down from the top load, finally we get to Puerto Princesa city. That night I had horrible nightmares and when I woke up the next day with my whole body throbbed, my muscles sore badly then I remember I gave my full strength holding onto my dear life from the verge of death! Same experience when i went to Cagayan De Oro city. Horrible but fun!!! real fun! That makes me miss home a lot more!!! Johnny thanks for the effort of reminding us on how sweet our home is:)Keep rockin’!

  182. 182    Jhane January 30, 2007 at 2:40 am

I don’t quite like riding in the jeepney, I hate dust and smoke, specially when the driver smokes a lot, then different smells of parfume from the passengers, minsan may lasing ka pang katabi..lol..and also to hot and stinks, makes me sick very badly…and another thing that drives me nuts when the played the music so so so LOUD!! grabee parang mababasag ear drum ko…Lol… but it is fun kung kasama tropa sa pagsakay.
but my Mum likes it very much kasi cheap daw ang fare…Lol…cool if ya know the driver…cuz the fare is free…hehehe
    cool blogs Johnny…keep it up^_^

the jeepney is just one more testament to the pinoy’s sense of community. where else can your personal space be more violated and yet not care? in an elevator, maybe? di ba perfect din ang jeep for people watching? as mentioned above, that jeepney song says it all!
i love the philippines!!! being away made me more nationalistic.

  196. 196    Marge January 30, 2007 at 10:10 am

Yeah, I missed the jeepney rides cuz here you need to do a lot of walking or riding a bike. Buses here are not the same. No music. No funny stickers to read just paid advertisements of private English schools or whatever. Boring! And of course, the sometimes irritating “orukata wa bell wo oshiraseshimasu!”

  199. 199    Maricel January 30, 2007 at 11:13 am

It’s been ages since I rode a ‘jeepney’. I think the last time I was in one was 1997. I’m not really sure how I feel about them. They’re a bit tacky I think, and because of all the dirt and dust in the Philippines being in one can be a really nasty experience.

  200. 200    kathleen January 30, 2007 at 2:59 pm

well…… i do miss it! but the last time i visit my home town thandang sora! i forgot where to go, if i ride the jeepneys i wont know where to stop i would get lost! so now! i like it here cuz i havemy own car! but i still miss manila and my friends!

  201. 201    Anton January 30, 2007 at 3:12 pm

Mas masarap sumakay ng jeep pag ikaw ang driver. nag simula ako mag drive ng jeep nung 18 years old ako. pag maganda ang chick pag nag bayad ng 10 peso bill, sinusuklian ko ng 10 peso pa rin pero barya… tapos they just smile when they count there change….. hahaha ang sarap ng feeling pag ganun.

  202. 202    Drey January 30, 2007 at 4:40 pm

i actually lived in manila for five months in 2003. i rode the jeepney everyday to anywhere, well, if i don’t really know where i’m going i took the taxi. jeepneys are fun… though i don’t fit inside, so i sit in the front next to the driver, i had to pay extra so no one sits next to me. of course everybody stares at me because they know i’m not from there and i’m here taking a jeepney. to me, taxis are more scarier and more dangerous because they can take you anywhere and do anything with you. I CAME BACK HOME TO LIVE LIKE A LOCAL, AND I DID. riding jeepneys are truly the memorable expirience that i’ve had… i love manila!

  203. 203    Kenneth January 30, 2007 at 5:40 pm

I’m a Filipino American who visited his parent’s homeland two times (and I’m 19 already). I had a blast visiting my relatives. When my family went to the city mostly to do shopping, we would take the air-con taxis but at times take the jeepneys. Oh man, it looked intense with all the people getting off and on with a simple tick of the coin. One thing for sure is don’t stick out your hand.

  204. 204    Brigitte January 30, 2007 at 7:23 pm

i really, really miss those days back in the philippines! every ride in a jeepney was like an adventure, you dunno wat’ll happen! nice blog, ei.
kip it up! mabuhay ang mga pinoy!

  205. 205    rhonee mae January 30, 2007 at 8:14 pm

i miss those days, merong time na nakaka-asar dahil sobrang traffic sa atin at maalikabok but those are the times na para sa akin ay sweet…magkatabi kayo ng boyfriend mo,magkahawak kamay, nagbubulongan ng sweet nothings at walang pakialam kung gaano ka tagal ang biyahe…pagnatraffic lalong okay kasi dagdag oras na kasama mo sweetheart mo. Pero ika nga adventure ang dating pag sumakay ka ng jeepney merong bad experience like hold-up and pickpocket at katakut-takot na kung ano-ano pa pero iba pa rin ang jeep, filipino original to!!! when we went back to the phils. last time, hindi kami nakasakay ng jeep ng mister ko buti na lang meron silang paupahang jeep kaya niyaya ko one time na magbiyahe kami…at sabi ko nga sweet pag kasama mo special someone mo…very protective siya na hindi ako madulas at masubsob sa katabi ko kaya all the time kayakap niya ako, o di ba…trip na trip ko!

  206. 206    Jetaime January 30, 2007 at 9:29 pm

But still, jeepney is the trademark of pinas…diba? Ur so cool! Suddenly i miss tose times im still strugling in college, just to be in a jeepney when raining….hehehehe :P

  207. 207    mai January 30, 2007 at 10:34 pm

wow! this blog is purtty popular. Very nostalgic– at least for me. I remember the time when I’d always sit behind the driver or at least malayo sa tambutso na puro usok. I don’t like the spot kasi mas malapit sa driver, mas maraming chance na mag-paabot sayo ng bayad. Not that I’m “Monk-ish” or anything pero I don’t want to touch other people’s money (as if ganun kalinis pera ko=), but i just don’t. So one time nagpapaabot ng bayad yung guy, sa kaartehan ko, kinuha ko iyong kamay niya and hinila ko para maabot niya yung kamay nung driver. Yun lang. Thanks ha!

  208. 208    Rodney January 30, 2007 at 10:56 pm

Reminds me of my HS days in my ol’ Alma Mater in Letran where I try to wait for a jeepney ride with a DIVISORIA signage in Lawton near the post office.

I was a creative rogue then where I tend to jump and pass through the wide side windows to get a good seat amidst the chaotic passngers barging to the main entrance of the humble jeep.

    How I miss home!

  209. 209    micci January 30, 2007 at 11:41 pm

this reminded me of a time when me and my bestfriend innocently “123″ed a UP IKOT jeepney driver. we were so into our chit-chat that we realized our misdeed only after we’re already inside our dorm.

out-of-topic (but still a pinoy entry): have you tried mamang sorbetero’s ice cream? how’d you compare it with gelato, eh? what i like is not the ice cream (though i don’t dislike it either) but the karitela–such a work of art, isn’t it? one time at a college gathering, i was in-charge of the desserts. wanting to veer away from the traditional, i walked around the campus and the nearby shopping center to search for something unique. i suddenly heard a kalembang and at the back of my mind, i thought that was it. with help of friends, i brought a mamang sorbetero and his karitela on-board a jeepney from UP to Tandang Sora for our gathering. we felt like kids again…we had fun.

hi! love your blog! ;) who doesn’t? anyways, it reminds me when my sister and i rode a jeepney from munoz market to frisco(where we used to live). i was laughing so hard because my sister was trying to make some silly faces to make me laugh, when an old lady snapped on me saying ‘anong nakakatawa? tawa ng tawa’ then kept talking ‘pro pabulong na…’harot’. well, i almost jumped out of the window because of embarassment! :( but thinking about it now…it just makes me laugh.

though a lotta bad things happen in the jeepneys of the phils, i still love it! love it love it love it! besides hindi naman namimili ng lugar ang accidents. they happen everywhere and anywhere. don’t blame it on the jeep! that’s rude!

saya magjeep! where else would you find people ever willing to hand your pamasahe or sasabit just to offer their seat sa magandang miss, or ready makipagsiksikan just to get on time sa school.

    it’s a lotta fun!

  224. 224    Janelle February 1, 2007 at 4:32 am

One time i was in Manila and met up with some friends from cebu. everytime we ride in a jeep we always argue who´s going to hand the fare to the passenger next to us. And if we succeed, there´s the problem of asking for the change. You see the problem is people from the visayas are known to speak bad tagalog and it´s true! So when we were there, we got so conscious of our tagalog like if we said it right, not to mention the accent, etc. that riding in a jeepney in manila became a challenge for us when we were there. But riding in a jeepney is definitely fun!

Riding a jeepney is fabalous, ask my children and they would say the same. Whenever we spent a vacation anywhere in Philippines, my children would not let us rent a car or hire a cab, they prefer to ride in a jeepney, tricycle or trisikad. Even when we just had to go to the shopping malls across the hotel where we were staying, oh boy, they want to use a jeepney or tisikad just for the fun of it. They love it so much. Nice blog by the way. Have more fun.

The jeepneys are cool bcoz it’s a symbol of our Pinoy culture and it is uniquely Pinoy. But I hate the jeepney drivers. They are worst drivers who are so rude they think they own the streets. I enjoy riding the jeepneys when it’s not full like maybe only 2 to 3 passengers. I feel comfortable and can move freely. I also enjoy the breeze and can see the scenery outside clearly.

  230. 230    Twinkle February 1, 2007 at 10:22 am

Jeepneys! lol…i luv riding in them when i actually get to do so…i just like it coz it’s fun…u get to c diff pple…and be a part of the real crowd…i remember one time where me and my mom had to wait in the rain…that was soooo much fun…lol…

sarap nga sumakay sa jeepney but i think not in metro manila. i prefer jeepneys in the province especially the one in iloilo.people are so kind and accomodating. if u seated in the back and say “bayad” or “paki-abot daw” most of the passenger will acknowledge you and hand down your fare to mamang driver, same way with the change, and they always say thank you. If you want to stop the jeepney, just say “lugar” which means “to find some right place to stop” and the driver will stop his jeep near a curb.I liked the way they does it coz it reflects that they were trying hard to discipline theirselves though they are not that educated and aware of some driving rules and regulation..who can blame them anyway? our govt doesnt provide any education towards driving..if on the street you’re on your own. goodluck at huwag magpahuli.

  242. 242    Antonette February 1, 2007 at 6:36 pm

i like taking the front seat, not the one near the driver ha. though it’s a bit hard trying to seat there kze for a 5′2″ person, kelangan ko tumalon ng konti to reach it. hehe. mejo scary umupo sa likod na siksikan pa kung minsan. i hate it when nakakatabi ako sa tao who perspire a lot then yun sweat nya would rub against my skin.

    cool blog btw. :)

The one experience of using jeepneys that is most memorable to me was that time when i took one from UP Manila after a summer class. The jeep was fast filling up with only three vacant seats left. The passenger hoarder “conductor” was busy shouting “tatlo pa, tatlo pa!!!!”. Then from nowhere a very fat lady boarded the jeep and sat on the vacant space. Seeing this, the hoarder turned around and shouted…”isa na lang….isa na lang!!!!!!!!!!” (one seat left)..hehehe

    well,nice job johnny!really cool bro!!!
My first two wiks in spain was really exciting one….nevah ko naalala ang pinas(well maliban sa family ko)kc ang layo ng hitsura ng pinas sa españa.
Our means of transportation then was the car of my Tito, that wik He cant pik us up from our place to the haws where we plan to see each aders as family….have to ride a bus….so as a new comer…im busy sight seeing(pa-ignorant effect sa spain)and then suddenly my Tita told me”Ivy umayos n.ayan n Deutsche bank,so stand na ako…..lumampas n at lahat yung bus sa Bank hindi gumalaw ang tita ko so the first thing n ginawa ko is to say “MANONG PARA N SA TABI” not thinking n ala n ako sa pinas at hindi n nila naiintindihan ang tagalog. That whole afternoon with the whole family of mine ang pinag usapanlang nmin is d difference of PUVs hir and satin…….
Dats d tym n nag sink in n ang homesickedness……..missing riding a jeepneys to and from the house to skol when i was a student and from house to work….huhuhu
when these Spaniards will buy a jeepneys kaya para maging PUVs ng Spain? haaaaayyyyy for sure isa n ako sa magrerecomend……….

jeepney is an epitome of what a true blue pinoy is.

the colorful drawings, names of probably the whole family, horses swaying front-back on the hood, knight-rider lights inside.. sometimes even surround sound. how cool is that?!

and did you know that jeepneys are being exported already. dont you just love being pinoy?

  258. 258    mHeL February 2, 2007 at 12:48 pm

just like everyone else i had so much fun memories riding jeepney in the phils. i remember noon ayaw kong sumakay sa bulok or should i say lumang jeep but before everyone react napipilitan din naman akong sumakay sa lumang jeep as long meron itong radio (nice, diba) ayaw ko ring sumakay sa jeep kung puno na ng pasahero (you know naman doon sa atin kahit puno na nga jeep pasakay pa rin ng pasakay ng tao). but the bottom line is i really missed riding jeep sa mga kababayan natin we should be proud of our Jeepneys kasi sa pinas lang matatagpuan yan eh. i’m really proud to be pinoy. Mabuhay!

  259. 259    Geraldine February 2, 2007 at 1:52 pm

The sight of a jeepney is so Filipino to me. I love to see them at all times but I will never ride a jeepney ever… One time I did from Tandan Sora to UP. A man on my left pretended he was takin a nap and kept hitting my boob whenever the driver would step on the brakes. Guess what, I told him off. I told him loud enough so everyone could hear, “Tumatama yung siko mo sa boobs ko, ang sakit ha!” Guess what? He said, “BOS, PARA LANG SA TABI!”

  260. 260    Allan February 2, 2007 at 1:55 pm

u r one of the best… i pity those jeepney drivers with a junky jeep though coz no one wants to ride but those with brand new ones…. always siksikan, tulakan, pinag aawayan pa kamo. maganda naman na jeep kesa tricycle… it’s a bit safer!!

  261. 261    MOwiE February 2, 2007 at 7:28 pm

mine was SUPER!! i was texting at the back of the jeepney, at the very rear, and a man did this ’sabit sa likod’ thing and 20 minutes along the course, he put daggers at my neck, snatched my cellphone and ran away (i suppose the jeepney driver was an accesory to the crime cos the jeepney then was running at a turtle pace, and this incident wasn’t even in manila, mind you! i was shocked i didn’t even get to shout for help when the man got away,..i was at a lost for words so to speak. i remember i turned rigid all night through when i got home.
i could have died that night and i was thankful i did not. so never in my life had i seated at the back since then. and never did i trust jeepney drivers ever again too after that. not only do they stink, they also are CRIMINALS!!!

peace out. i love this blog.

Miss ko na nga ang jeepney. More than five years na akong hindi sumasakay nun. Wala kasi nun dito.

    My most memorable jeepney experience…

EVER!

  264. 264    Jon February 2, 2007 at 7:45 pm

I don’t usually comment on other people’s blogs but I do like to visit this one because of the nice pics of Japanese girls.

Anyway, I was just surprised that the Jeepney you took a picture of just so happens to have my name on it! NO, I don’t mean Catherine.

Personally, I hated riding jeepneys. I couldn’t stand the stench, the heat and the constant stopping. Taking a jeep ride was a last resort for me when my car was broken. I sometimes would walk from the Santolan MRT all the way to Katipunan rather than ride the jeep.

It doesn’t help either that most jeepney drivers do not follow traffic rules and are the cause of constant aggravation for every other motorist out there. The same goes for some commuters who are barbaric and block the road while waiting for the jeep. Sarap sagasaan!

  265. 265    Mia February 2, 2007 at 8:20 pm

The experience is so Pinoy! I used to like riding in front with the driver kasi mas kita mo ang mga nangyayari and it’s easier to get off. Not to say riding at the back wasn’t also nice. Syempre minsan kelangan mong mapag-isip (mostly about crushes and what will i do with my life, etc, etc), the scenery while jeepney riding helps clear things if only for a while. Ah, those were the days….pag uwi ko, sasakay uli ako ng jeep, kahit hindi umaandar sa traffic!!!

  271. 271    Mamai February 3, 2007 at 3:37 am

YUP! I’VE BEEN RIDING JEEPNEY’S EVERY SINGLE DAY DURING MY COLLEGE DAYS AT NCBA. I’VE EXPERIENCE WALKING WITHOUT SHOES COZ ONE OF THE GUY WAS RUSHING TO GET IN THE JEEP AND ACCIDENTALLY STEP ON MY SANDALS HEELS. GOSH! HE’S SO HEAVY ENOUGH TO BREAK MY SHOES. I WAS SO SHY AND ENDED UP WALKING TO THE SHOE STORE TO BUY A NEW ONE. BUT NOW!!! IM LIKE IMELDA MARCOS I HAVE THOUSANDS OF SHOES AND HAVE MY OWN CAR. I LOVE JEEPNEYS.

    pinoy things are cool…Ü

  275. 275    Kel February 3, 2007 at 5:48 am

I miss my college days back home. The Evangelista jeep passing through Libertad then transfer to the Dominga jeep going to La Salle / College of St. Benilde in Taft/Vito Cruz. I sometimes took the Quiapo jeep going to my ex-gf’s house in Dapitan, near UST. It was just a bit scary to ride a jeep late at night especially those passing through Pasay-Libertad. Other drivers are high in “stone” and drive really fast, as we call it “Biyaheng Langit.”

Btw, I even tried the “1…2…3!” when I was a kid. That’s what you do when you don’t have enough money for the fare. If you guys know what I mean. Haha!

  276. 276    Romufar February 3, 2007 at 5:52 am

yup!even now i have my own car, still a pleasure for me to ride in jeepney’s and now even my husband and my son like to ride on it and our famous tricycle’s too, i remember my son ask me many times not to drive the car and he like to go with me whenever i go to a wet market every saturday because he knows that i’m not going to drive the car.PROUDLY PINOY, ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINES! AWESOME! i’m from cebu and i’ve been riding jeepneys since i was born coz we never have any car way back in the philippines. Like other guys man i miss the jeep. Especially when you get to sit beside a pretty lady or you’re across with it seems like the ride is so smooth and fast. You can’t even notice the traffic, noise and the pollution. Lol. Of course nothing beats riding a jeepney after school to the malls with your best buddies and girlfriends. Chatting and giggling inside the jeep like no other people is around. Man! i wish we never grow old. I wish everyone we love stay with us forever. I wish everything good will never end. Right now i’m thinking about home. Though i know i’m lucky coz i’m enjoying the good stuff that this western world got to offer but i still wanna go home. Nice country, nice people, and nice memories there despite of being known as unstable nation. I’ll try my best to go back there and grow old someday. thanks for this blog. i’m proud to be pinoy too.

  283. 283    tes February 3, 2007 at 10:26 am

Well, this didn’t happen to me, but it was highly likely to happen, anyway. I’m from the province (Leyte) and when we were in high school (a looong time ago), our town didn’t have jeepney. We had the tricycle (the motorcycle with the sidecar). Anyway, two of my friends went to Manila for the National Science Fair. They took the jeepney to Taguig. Added to their fear of being lost in the big city and and of speaking in Tagalog, was the uncertainty of how to tell the driver to stop, much less pay the fare. Anyway, they managed to say “Para lang po sa tabi” as they handed him the money. “Saan ‘to galing?” Asked the driver. My friends looked at each other and one timidly said, “Sa Leyte…”. And the driver started complaining about how young people have become smart-behinds. Needless to say, they learned what to say the next time they hopped aboard a jeepney.

i remember way back my college days sa WOMEN´S,marami ko ring kwentong jeepney, baka kulang ang space, itong isa lang sa mga naexperience ko…masarap sumakay sa jeep esp. pag nakasakay mo pala bigla ang suitor mo na nagpapasiklab at babayaran ang pamasahe mo..o di ba nakalibre allowance ko hehehe.eh pag minalas malas yung guy at magkakasama kaming buong barkada , ibabayad nya lahat kami..dusa sya.. swerte kami!!! hayyy..those were the days..masarap irecall, ngayon husband ko na yung tagabayad ng pamasahe namin, o di va nice story?namimiss din namin ang pinoy jeep, original walang katulad, dito puro subway at trams..di mo pwedeng sabihin mama para lang sa tabi.. Thank u kababayan!good idea.

ooohhhh manila i just love manila you know, bay walk, party at night, emerador and all that stuff but what i miss most is riding my favorite baclaran route going to my house i like to sit at the very far end before para libre pamasahe just jump and thats it thats what i miss not in here where i can almost buy everything.

  289. 289    Jane February 3, 2007 at 2:17 pm

Jeepneys? The king of the road (well, in Philippines, yeah?),… you can hardly get a ride if they’re on strike! This is one the reasons why I can never drive in Manila….PUJ are not so forgiving. Nevertheless, it’s quite fun riding one despite the fumes, the jerky ride, the crowd, the discomfort of sitting next to a complete stranger not to mention all sorts of scents and smells. ha, ha… It’s not the same thing in Phils without them, though.

  290. 290    angelo February 3, 2007 at 2:29 pm

Somehow they’re to me a microcosm of the Philippines itself. The thrill is always there: mula sa pagsakay hanggang sa pagbaba.

  291. 291    angelo February 3, 2007 at 2:37 pm

PAHABOL: Ba’t ganon? ang mga pinoy sa ibang bansa, nagbabayad sa public transpo,…pero ‘pag nasa ‘pinas, kung makakalusot na huwag magbayad, e gagawin pa rin? naaawa lang ako sa mga pumapasada. maliit lang ang mga boundary nila, compared to what we make, and afford.

  292. 292    iTs yeOw jHoi February 3, 2007 at 5:19 pm

Hello to everyone and to you Johnny. Yes, nakaka-miss nga ang sumakay ng Jeep, maski sabihin na nating good or bad ang experiences natin tungkol dito. Thank you for reminding us to be proud of being PINOYS!!! Salamat Kabayan!!!

  294. 294    'ninja' February 3, 2007 at 6:09 pm

yeah, nakaka miss din sumakay ,hinahanap hanap mo din pala kahit na minsan nakakabuset sumakay dahil sinisiksik ka ng katabi mo me kasama pang tsansing, hahaha, nakakaasar coz’hindi na kami magkarinigan ng kakwentuhan ko sa lakas ng sounds sa loob ng jeep, nakakairita pag me nakasabay kang mula ulo hanggang paa kung makatingin,at mas nakakairita pag yung driver ang tingin ng tingin from back mirror, nakaka worry dahil baka biglang bumangga ang jeep, and last but not least, kung mag overtake yung ibang driver akala mo nasa race sila ng F-1 hayyy…pero nakaka miss din pala minsan, minsan lang ha,hahahha

  295. 295    jenny February 3, 2007 at 6:49 pm

  297. 297    -ghia- February 3, 2007 at 9:12 pm

this page is just so cool…ur theme is so eye-cathcy…

anyway, here’s my share…i love riding jeepneys coz there’s a lot of stories in it..actually, i can make stories out of the good-smelling guy who seemed took his shower with jovan musk, who sits next to u, or the punk sitted in front of u.i am always fascinated by the passengers,..

there is something in filipinos that amazes me,(which of course you rarely see from other race)by the way they say “para”, the way they hand their fares, the way they sit, or simply the way they get in or out of the jeepney…

    nakakmiss tuloy ang pinas…

  298. 298    kuTcHiE February 3, 2007 at 9:23 pm

enjoy nga pag sumakay ka sa jeep..yun nga lang like others said..you’re just putting your own life on risk..especially nowadays in manila..tsk! pero..isa yan sa namimiss ko sa ‘pinas…=)

  299. 299    BADCoLA February 3, 2007 at 11:27 pm

this particular entry caught my attention.

yep, jeepney! you will never be bored inside one. madalas parang pelikula: may drama, may comedy, may action.

and yeah..isa ‘to sa mga nakakamiss sa pinas.

ummmmm why all of the comments are sad , tragic . . .it started with a nice good way back XP . . . jeez . . . anyway i love riding PUJ . . .Riding from cubao-USTE way back or even to Quiapo . . . it was fun but of course there are risk , u just have t be Attentive and “knows what to do” in case of emergency . . .if some1 tries to kill you jeeez wnt you do something? or u let ur killer just stab u to death? lawl . . .anyway riding PUJs makes me feel free and see how normal the way ppl live . . .(pantay-pantay kau lahat pagdating sa jeep walang mahirap walang mayaman . . .mura pa! ehehehe)

  305. 305    Jacq February 4, 2007 at 5:19 am

it depends. i rarely ride the jeepney nowadays coz the pollution might kill me sooner (my lungs are weak and i used to have asthma) but whenever i find myself waking up late (for color coding), riding the jeep is inevitable. its always an experience. the barker yells: “siyaman yan! siyaman yan!” i will feel so violated by the ppl who make it a point not to move! or for men not to put their legs together so a person can sit! riding the jeep will always make me late!!!!! if it wasnt like this, i wouldnt hate it! but then again, i cant afford to buy a second car! so i really really have to deal with it! haha….

  306. 306    Jun February 4, 2007 at 6:27 am

Very uncomfortable (ah inglis na yan ah).

  307. 307    Rodgie February 4, 2007 at 7:16 am

    oh man!!!
I was walking along a street here in Dubai, and there was this cultural/antique shop full of old cars and stuff. I took a peep and to my surprize I saw this pimp looking jeepney inside, accesorized and stuff. Oh man, its like being in the Pines once again. I also saw an owner type jeepney right beside it. This is how we “kabayan’s” are looked up to here. ASTIG!!!!!. I would love to see it on the road though. HAHA. Peace!!

Ah yes, the Jeepneys! I am a white boy but I have been to the PI twice in the past 2 years to visit online friends and now a fiancee. I think the jeepneys are really neat, although I haven’t yet ridden in one. That is my goal for my next trip to the PI, to take at least 1 ride in a jeepney!

  313. 313    DevilAngel February 4, 2007 at 9:57 pm

JEEPNEYS- very helpful, economical… sometimes you’ll encounter the bad drivers and some pervs, but it’s still a jeep and you can only find it in the philippines! i miss those days i wake up early, find the 1st trip to feu then gastambide and finally i’m at ceu!!! grabe!!! white uniform has turn to grey! hehe!

there’s a song to describe a jeepney experience- it’s from barbie’s cradle- limang dipang tao,,,

Jeepney??? A very cool means of transportation in the Phils. Every time I ride on it I have always a sansation that someting bad happens but not for this I’ll stop riding on this amazing, colourful and traditional pinoy jeepney.

  319. 319    Elizabeth February 5, 2007 at 7:00 am

hmmm…jeepneys? they’re cool alright but when you’tired and feeling hot , they’re not. especially when you’re wearing an all white uniform and matching white stockings? Believe me lads, it can be quite irritating sometimes. You reach your destination smelling like a builder and looking harrassed with your hair all over the place…ha ha ha. Anyways,it aint all that bad. I still do miss riding the pujs no matter how much i complain about it…it’s the feeling i get whenever i do get to ride one back home…it’s like feeling…Yes! i’m home at last…Thanks for the space and goodluck

  320. 320    kenluv February 5, 2007 at 7:49 am

jeepney? mas maganda sa province.. way back 5 years ago may rambulan sa loob ng jeepney, nagsibabaan lahat ng pasahero including me hehehe.. another experienced my ex-bf visited me here in phils curious siya if how does it feel if uupo sa front seat, pinasakay ko siya tapos nung sa bahay na kami ayaw na niya daw uupo sa harapan kasi feeling niya mamamatay daw siya kasi nga daw ang mga drivers feeling nasa race track hehehehe… then a friend tagged him along papuntang fish port pinsabit sa likuran hahaha tumawag saken sa office nagsumbong gusto daw siya patayin ng friend ko dahil nga pinasabit siya sa likuran hahaha…
tapos one time din sumakay kami sa jeep dumaan sa gasoline station lahat ng mga gasoline boy kinunan niya ng picture…untill now even we both had our own family were still communicating, binigyan pa nga ako ng copy ng video na nakasabit siya sa jeep…nakaka miss ang jeep

  321. 321    Derrick February 5, 2007 at 11:26 am

  326. 326    Bebe February 5, 2007 at 4:44 pm

my jeepney experience? uh, one friday night i didn’t drive my car because of “color coding” - i picked up my girlfriend from school and rode a jeepney to take her home - i didn’t know that my other girlfriend would take the same jeepney who accidentally work nearby where our jeepney stopped to pick up passengers. i was afraid it would happen. and it did. my other girlfriend freaked out and tried to hit my other girlfriend but i took the beating. now i never ride jeepneys because there isn’t any out here in Canada.

  327. 327    laura February 5, 2007 at 6:08 pm

    i love jeepneys!

  328. 328    juliet February 5, 2007 at 6:18 pm

I’ve met my husband in the jeepney…and that’s the best thing I miss most in the Phils. never had any here in the capital city of Ottawa Canada. I’m proud to see any pinoy entries. Keep it up!!!

  329. 329    Idz February 5, 2007 at 9:08 pm

Oh!

  330. 330    anthenette February 5, 2007 at 9:53 pm

As far as I remember the last time I ride on jeep is when I was 12, back then it was fun i was with ma friendz nung papunta kami ng mall and lahat kami halos umukupa ng space sa jeep, and the driver was yelling at us kasi ang ingay namin, those moment are very memorale riding on the jeep, sometimes nasa harap ako, katabi ng driver I feel cool kasi I can see everything….sarap sumakay sa jeep

Perhaps the experience of riding jeepneys would’ve been alot more enjoyable if there weren’t alot of them all over the streets in one place causing more traffic and ’sakit ng ulo’ to passengers and other drivers alike. Or if the city wasn’t so polluted.

    The only place I enjoyed riding a jeepney had been inside my university, at UP campus ^^;

    (J-Pop fan I see… good for you)

I remembered about JEEPNEYS…Thre’s one time, it was raining so hard, alam mo naman satin bagyo lagi at kung bumagyo grabe! di k na makakagamit ng PAYONG, which is sana para sa ULAn..anyways.. nursing student ako nun sa UDMC, the famous welcome rotonda that was before. DYAHE GRABE! yan ang di ko makakalimutan when I was studying.. I miss jeepneys so much. Lalo na yung busina nilang tumatawa… hahahaha.that was fun!

  347. 347    -tobatz- February 6, 2007 at 1:28 pm

AWESOME! i’m from marinduque and i’ve been riding jeepneys since i was born coz we never have any car way back in the philippines. Like other gurls I miss the jeep. Especially when you get to sit beside a handsome men or you’re across with it seems like the ride is so smooth and fast. You can’t even notice the traffic, noise and the pollution. Lol. Of course nothing beats riding a jeepney after school to the malls with your best buddies and friends. Chatting and giggling inside the jeep like no other people is around. Gurl!
I’m going back for my holiday this april,I miss phils..huh!

  348. 348    J V February 6, 2007 at 3:33 pm

i remember the times i would sit in a jeepney, and it took about an hour or so from school to home so…, and i would fall asleep and my head would just fall straight to my knees, and everyone in the jeep was staring at me or something….
embarrassing but i was too groggy to feel embarrassed…
    hehe…

I remember that my exbf and i would never ride a jeep if its not on the front seat because then we can be more together.

    That’s how fun being Pinoy.

  357. 357    -'LhUckAi'- February 7, 2007 at 4:27 am

i had this really exciting experience riding in a jeepney, well to be exact at d rooftop of the jeepney. twas way back yr 2000 my family went to Abra(Northern Luzon province in Phils.)
There were this 2 old couples hu jez came in and there are no place for them thats why i had to climb up. i was d only girl on the top and well i must say its all worth it. i got d chance to look over the high mountains though it was a bit scary coz the road wasnt that wide as if like were gonna fall down from d cliff. but really it was so freakin amazing!!!hay nkakamiss….sna maulit muli hehehe..

there are one passenger and an owner type jeepney here in UAE but unfortunately they were placed in a museum for display only hahaha!!!thats all..

and oh yeah nice blog entry u got!

  358. 358    Ice February 7, 2007 at 5:55 am

True, nothing like the good old PUJ.

  359. 359    'ynna' February 7, 2007 at 6:24 am

  360. 360    joy February 7, 2007 at 6:46 am

Being away from home, yes I do miss taking jeepney to work or school or to the mall…..In fact I don’t even know how much is the fare now. Last summer, I went back home, I was only able to ride on jeepney once…..Where I am right now, the cheapest mode of transpo is by bus and bus drivers in Bangkok are totally disciplined because they stop at the bus stops, so thats why I miss our PUJ where I can just hail anywhere that I am standing and you can just ride on it, unlike the buses here where I have to walk to where the bus stop is….so mga NOYPIs enjoy PUJ while it last…..

  361. 361    ' 'kabibe February 7, 2007 at 8:51 am

jeepneys… yah i love it when I dont have enough dough for a cab. hate it when i sit next to a stinky and sweaty one. despise it when a dumbass girl’s mala-alambre hair flies on my face. Girls please!!! I’ve got long hair too and its a lot softer and better smelling than yours, but i’m considerate enough to tie it with a scrunchie. I once tugged a girl’s hair.

  362. 362    arlene February 7, 2007 at 9:32 am

no wonder this blog entry got a lot of fans…hehehe. i, too, get hooked up by this.

  374. 374    sHe February 7, 2007 at 10:18 pm

i have this thing about riding taxis and fx.. siguro dahil paranoid ako - no one can hear me scream! hehe! so lagi ako nag-jeep ng student ako.. when i went back di ako nagtaxi kinarir ko talaga ang jeep! super saya lalo na pag may kasakay kang kumakanta kanta or nagdadrama sa dyowa sa mobile nila.. =)

  376. 376    Ross February 7, 2007 at 10:33 pm

I went back home 5 years ago after being gone for 6 years.SM Centre Point is 2 blocks away from my Aunt’s home, sumasakay pa ako ng jeep para lang maramdaman ko na I was home maski sa sobrang traffic eh inaabot ako ng 30 minutes na sana nakarating na ko sa mall kung naglakad ako.I didn’t mind the sweaty passengers and the driver’s BO.Heck it,was all good! It brought back so many memories. My girlfriends and I used to have these cute hankies from Gift gate to cover our faces from usok, alikaboks and nasty smells ha!ha!
I would love to go back home with my family.. someday.. para lang sumakay sa jeep!

ya cool blog jonny!!!i enjoy reading all the comments and experiences of our kababayan. i had good and bad experiences riding a jeep narong nakawitness ng sangkatutak na naisnatchan at nahablutan ng mga kwintas at bag at kung ano ano pa.kasi naman sasakay ng jeep e kuntodo nakalawit ang tatlong kwintas ng isang paseksing pasahero, akala nagpapakyut sa kanya yung kyut na guy e snatcher pala.madalas din may makatabi me ng manyakis o pervert n pasahero, pero quidaw ka naging matapang me dahil sa mga experiences ko n yan kaya when i went home i gave my sons cool experiences on puj.i want them to know that jeepneys are part of being pinoy. i show them my way of life when i was in high school and college, yung everyday n nagmamadali at nakikipagtulakan just to have a space sa jeep,at para di malate at mapagsarhan ng gate ng pnu, yung pagbababa mo parang nalanghap mo n lahat ng pollution from taft to espana.cool d ba…….nakakamis ang pinas!!!

  381. 381    AJ February 8, 2007 at 3:18 am

I miss riding those Jeep, specially the Cubao-Divisoria route…Nobody beats riding the “Maria Clara”,”Pon Ponan Leyte”,”Roadstar” and yep “D’Sailor”.

“Mama bayad po!”.. “Boss ung sukli ko”.. “Para po sa tabi, para, paraaa…ay lampas! kainis nmn tong driver na to sabi ng para eh!!”…
Magkano na ba bayad ngayon sa jeep?.. May discount parin ba student at senior citizen?…

Your blog’s is nice! Keep it up! Proud to be Pinoy!

    riding a jeepney is.?
    A. Fun
    B. Scary
    C. Boring
    D. Amusing

    my answer is,,
    ALL OF THE ABOVE
    ehehe,,
it is FUN because youve got to taste, i mean smell or langhap or singhot all the dirt the tambutso of the jeepneys are emmiting.. not all ppol can xperience that? en the new groove of the PATOKS, ung bagong jeep na nagssway habang umaandar ng mabilis, ahaha,, once na nakasakay ka feeling mo diretso ka ospital at tlagang mapapakapit ka hindi lang sa railings pati sa Diyos..
it is SCARY because, you’ve the chance to be snatch, just like when i was in second year college, the snatcher is just by my side and i know he is one but i just cant do a thing,, i was Shocked.. damn it,,
it is BORING because,, endless traffic in aurora blvd?? Manila waters doing their pag aayos,,, AYSUS, late ako palagehh
it is AMUSING beacuse,, ahaha,, you can meet different people. just awhile a ago,, i met a dentist riding a jeep, we were talking about the senior nursing student who was so clumsy,, “literally” clumsy.. who happened to aboard with a big bang…
one more thing i rode knina with a girl who make paabot ng bayad sa ken eh, we are both on the likod of the driver, at wlang tao sa harapan ko to pakiabot din ung bayad niya,, May Gulay, umusog pa ako, at nadumihan ang puti kong uniform na walng pangalandakan kong ikinuskos sa upuan ng jeep..
ehehe.. i am riding a jeepney daily,, ahaha,, right now its 6 pesos for the student fare and 7 for others who u know.. that is only for the first 4 km..

  384. 384    NeleenGrace February 8, 2007 at 4:19 am

Well riding in a jeepney is some kinda, you ride in a roller coaster jeepney hehehe especially when u try the one that they called “PATOK” as in grabeh!!!saya!!then the sound whew!!pgsinabi mo “mama yung sukli poh!!”di ka mari2nig kse malakas yung sound then yung driver or kundoktor nabingi na(^_^) pro pgoras ng singilan well, ang bilis dibah hehehehe!Thats why i miss our jeepney ride in Phil.

  385. 385    Jorge February 8, 2007 at 4:34 am

there’s no such thing as BAD when it comes to experienceS. You get to learn from it. You get to stop for awhile and ponder on life… and riding on the jeep with sinners and saints isnt an exception…Experience would always be an experience at its first. Yes, i ride the PUJ almost everyday but the experience is always biting! you get to glimpse every kind of people of different walks of life. You get to ride with bad people and stop for a while to thank God for brining u safe and sound to ur destination.. well… not just that PUJs are also a trademark for PINOYS! weee!

  386. 386    Cecille February 8, 2007 at 5:34 am

i miss jeepney..iba pa rin ang PUJ ng pinoy.dun ako review for exams on my way sa PLM.kiber sa mga katabi, bawal ang lrt eh..kasi tipid, tipiran ang lola mo.sa jeep ko na meet ang first bf ko, kasi ala ako barya..75 cents pa lang yata ang fare nun.sad lang, dami na bad reviews about jeepney…ingat sa snatcher..ingat sa hulog barya..ingat lang mga tol, anyway, kahit san.. there are many bad people, sa jeep, sa bus, sa subway, sa train…nice blog bro.SARAP PA RIN MAGING PINOY!!!

  387. 387    milleth February 8, 2007 at 6:51 am

i hate puj b4,ksi grabe s lugar nmin..aalis k ng haus fresh n fresh, pagdting mo s pupuntahan mo asus ang dting nun mahangin b s labas, akl mo nilagyan ng isang box n gel ang buhok s sobrang tigas dhil s alikabok…but now i miss sumakay ng jeep, lalo n ung part s terminal n manong reserve n ung upuan s tbi ng driver ha..wag n kau magppskay dun..hay,experienced nga nman, srap balik balikan….thanks…

What a great blog! I miss riding jeepneys. You don’t really get to see colorful vehicles on this side of the world. And people living in the Philippines take these nuances for granted - I know I did. Never paid attention to them. Now I don’t see them anywhere here, I tend to miss it. Love the jeep picture, it has my name on it!

I hate jeep kasi everytime I asked the driver to stop lagi akong nilalampas or minsan naman lagi akong na-uumpog kasi naman ang bilis mag patakbo.

Interesting… hehhehe… I miss riding PUJ…
    waaaaaaa…. I hope you all got that… errrr…
