Someone visited the blog recently and posted my link on a forum. Now most of the time this would be a good thing - giving my site more exposure which, hopefully, would result into bringing in more visitors.
Unfortunately, this was not the case this time.
The replies that followed the linked message weren’t so friendly. Comments were made about my fondness with J-Pop and Hello! Project, which some found to be laughable and something to be sneered at. I even read a rather amusing comment about my sexual orientation.
This isn’t the first time I’ve read these kinds of comments about me and the blog. Male J-Pop fans (male Hello! Project fans, to be exact) have always been ridiculed over the years. I know a couple of bloggers like myself who have also gone through the same ordeal.
Now I can take this opportunity and tell you how upset I am about these comments but I won’t. What I will say is this:
I am more complex than you think; my fondness for J-Pop and its artists is only a small portion of who I am. To come to a conclusion about the kind of person I am based solely on the genre of music I listen to is just plain ignorance and is simply a sign of complete stupidity.
Yes, I like Morning Musume.
Yes, I post photos of girl idols.
Yes, I share stories about how much I like J-Pop.
We all have our musical preferences and this is mine.
I LOVE J-POP. Period.
I will continue to write about Morning Musume. I will continue to post photos of girl idols. I will continue to share stories about how much I like J-Pop.
I have better things to do than waste my time on ignorant people.
